Report: 10 New AI Features Coming in iOS 18

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iOS 18 and macOS 15 will introduce various new AI features, including auto-generated emojis and suggested replies for emails and messages.

A significant portion of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is expected to spotlight AI features. In his latest “Power On” newsletter, Mark Gurman explains that Apple’s AI strategy focuses on providing practical tools for everyday users, with new features for core apps like Safari, Photos, and Notes. Apple plans to introduce:

  • Photo retouching
  • Voice memo transcription
  • Suggested replies for emails and messages
  • Auto-generated emojis based on message content
  • Improved Safari web search
  • Faster, more reliable Spotlight searches
  • More natural Siri interactions
  • An advanced Siri for Apple Watch, optimized for on-the-go tasks
  • Smart recaps of missed notifications, messages, web pages, news articles, documents, and notes
  • Developer tools for Xcode

AI features requiring less processing power will run on-device, while more demanding tools will operate via the cloud, emphasizing privacy benefits. Apple may market many new AI tools as a “preview” in beta versions of iOS 18 before its official launch in September to indicate that the technology is still in development.
